Wheel Rim Design by Matt Schramm
I'm always looking for ideas on new design projects that will be meaningful and interesting. In 1998 I came up with the idea of designing a wheel rim for a sports car, and I provided kids with printed blank outlines to sketch on, as shown. After narrowing their ideas to a few of the best ones, they used AutoCAD to draw them accurately.
In going through old files, I discovered this design by Matt Schramm, who continues to make me laugh more than a decade later. Apparently my palavering on the wonders of radial symmetry in nature and machinery didn't have the desired effect. Uh, good "work" Matt!
